1. Welcome to Your WTF Keychain
The WTF Keychain is your quick-access tool for reaching a licensed Florida attorney during emergencies like car accidents, bodily injuries, or law enforcement interactions. Equipped with an RFID chip, it connects you to Where's The Fault PLLC’s Emergency Legal Access Service when tapped on an NFC-enabled smartphone. This guide walks you through setup, use, and maintenance to ensure you’re ready when it matters most.
2. Check Phone Compatibility
Your smartphone must have Near Field Communication (NFC) to use the keychain. Most modern iPhones (iPhone 7 and later) and Android devices support NFC.
• Step 1: Go to your phone’s settings and confirm NFC is enabled (usually under “Connections” or “Wireless” for Android, or “NFC” for iPhone).
• Step 2: Test by holding an NFC-enabled card (e.g., contactless credit card) near your phone. If it responds, your phone is compatible.
• For Android NFC Reader is near middle back of the phone. For iPhone, NFC Reader is near the top of the phone.

3. Receive Your Keychain
After subscribing, we’ll mail your keychain to the address provided. Verify it’s undamaged upon receipt and test it immediately (see Section 3).
4. Testing Your Keychain
Test your keychain monthly to ensure it works in an emergency.
• Step 1: Enable NFC on your phone.
• Step 2: Hold the keychain near the back of your phone (near the camera for iPhone, near the middle back for Android).
• Step 3: A phone number or link to contact WTF PLLC should appear. Do not call unless it’s an emergency.
If nothing appears, try:
• Adjusting the keychain’s position on your phone.
• Ensuring NFC is on.
• Lock then wake but do not unlock the phone for iPhone.
• Ensure the phone is unlocked on Android
• Removing phone case or nearby RFID items (e.g., key fobs).
• If it still doesn’t work, request a free replacement at [email protected] or (855)983-4529
5. Using the Keychain in an Emergency
In a qualifying emergency (bodily injury, car accident, or law enforcement interaction):
• Step 1: Stay calm and ensure safety.
• Step 2: Tap the keychain on your NFC-enabled phone to display the contact number or link.
• Step 3: Call the number or follow the link to reach a licensed Florida attorney.
• Step 4: Provide your name and describe the emergency. If calling for a Covered Individual (spouse or minor child), confirm your identity and their relationship to you.
Important: The keychain is for your use only. Family members need their own subscription and keychain. You must be present during the call unless the Covered Individual is legally capable (e.g., emancipated) or an immediate family member is present.
If the keychain fails, manually call (855)983-4529 to access the Service.
6. Maintaining Your Keychain
Keep your keychain in good condition to ensure reliability:
• Store Properly: Avoid extreme heat, moisture, or magnetic fields (e.g., near microwaves or magnets).
• Avoid Interference: Keep it away from other RFID devices (e.g., key fobs, badges) to prevent signal conflicts.
• Check Regularly: Inspect for physical damage during monthly tests.
Example: Don’t leave the keychain in a hot car or near a wallet with RFID cards, as this may impair its function.
Troubleshooting

• Ensuring NFC is on.

Q: What if I lose my keychain?

Q: Will the keychain work if my phone is locked?
A: For Android: It is best to unlock your phone and tap the center of the back of the phone with the keychain.
A: For iPhone: It is best to push the lock button to lock the phone, then push the lock button again to wake but not unlock. Tap keychain to top of phone near cameras.
Q: Can I test the keychain without calling?
A: Yes, tap the keychain to display the contact link or number, but only call for emergencies.
